Netflix to run on Telkomsel, Indihome within weeks, Telkomsel official says
Netflix has improved, a Telkomsel official says, as the cellphone provider prepares to lift a ban on the streaming platform.

opular streaming platform Netflix will soon be accessible through cellular provider Telkomsel and internet service provider Indihome, Telkomsel director Setyanto Hantoro said recently.
“We’re currently discussing with Netflix. We’re going to open its access on our services within weeks,” Setyanto said on Thursday, as quoted by kompas.com.
Providers under the state-owned Telkom Group have blocked Netflix since 2016, insisting that the platform did not meet Indonesian standards on media content.
However, the Telkom Group is now reconsidering to stop blocking the platform. “Netflix has improved. Now there is a parental control feature, more collaboration with local content creators and a better takedown policy,” said Setyanto.
With the takedown policy, Telkom can ask the streaming platform to take a program down within 24 hours if there is a complaint from customers. Other streaming services, such as Hooq and iFlix, have earlier agreed to the policy.
Meanwhile, Netflix has released a parental control feature by enabling a PIN to secure a profile, so that parent’s profile cannot be accessed by children. (aly)
