Ride-hailing firm Grab Indonesia is set to present a virtual celebration to commemorate Independence Day.

An online concert featuring Marion Jola, GIGI, Kikan Namara, Diskoria and Dipha Barus dubbed Pesta Satu7-an (One Purpose Party) will be held on Aug. 21 at 7 p.m.

To get tickets for the concert, users are invited to join a virtual panjat pinang (pole climbing) competition, a traditional game during Independence Day celebrations all around Indonesia.

Traditionally, contestants will race to climb a pole that has been greased with lubricants to make it slippery. At the top of the pole, contestants can grab various prizes.

Users in Indonesia can join the game by making transactions on the app. Those with the highest number of transactions will get tickets to the concert.

Users can also expect special promotions for GrabFood, GrabBike, GrabCar, GrabExpress, GrabMart and GrabKios services.

"Under a different circumstance this year, Grab would still like to celebrate the spirit of millions of Indonesians who use Grab's app," said Grab Indonesia's managing director, Neneng Goenadi, in a statement. "By making transactions on Grab, the public has contributed in helping micro, small and medium enterprises and Grab's partners amid the pandemic." (gis/wng)
