Tangerang museum makes toys dedicated to frontline workers for auction A series of toys for auction, called the Frontline Heroes, were designed, hand-painted and crafted at home, inspired by real life heroes from around the world to honor COVID-19 health workers. (Museum of Toys/File)

T

he Museum of Toys in Tangerang, Banten, is auctioning a series of toys dedicated to frontline workers, with sales proceeds going to the World Health Organization to help fund hospitals amid the fight against COVID-19.

The auction features 12 collectibles of “Frontline Heroes” created in a collaboration with toy designer Jeremy Jap, art director Maggie Michella and the museum's founder, Win Satrya.

Among the toy characters include Doctor, Nurse, Radiologist, Paramedic, Ambulance Driver, Pulmonologist, Lab Technician, Hospital Housekeeper, Hospital Administrator, Security, Pharmacist and Researcher.

"As frontline workers put their lives on the line daily, staying at home is the best thing everyone else can do. For one pack of creatives, we decided to heal the world a little through art," read a statement shared to The Jakarta Post.

According to the statement, each of the characters were designed, hand-painted and crafted at home, inspired by real life heroes from around the world. 

The Pulmonologist character, for instance, named Dr. Ruth, was inspired by Dr. Mark Benzimra, "a respiratory physician who bravely volunteered to be part of the COVID-19 respiratory response team in Australia".
