ANGERANG: Namod bin Jiun, 60, broke into tears when prosecutor Rezky Diniarto read out her indictment at Tangerang District Court on Tuesday.
Namod was charged for deception in a land swap deal between her and Alam Sutra housing estate developer PT Alfa Golden Reality.
"We demand a six-month prison sentence for the defendant. She should also pay a Rp 1,000 *11 US cents* trial fee," Rezky said, as quoted by tempointeraktif.com.
According to the prosecutor, Namod, who is illiterate, came to the developer's office to sell her 175-square-meter plot of land. The developer agreed to swap the plot with 120 square meters of land, two houses and Rp 20 million in cash because of the strategic location of Namod's land.
Later, Namod's son, Niman Rukmana, claimed ownership of 150 square meters of the land sold to the developer. Namod apparently only meant to swap 25 square meters of her land in the deal.
"PT Alfa Golden Reality has suffered Rp 150 million in losses as a result of the case," Rezky said.
