P

resident-elect Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) has moved a step closer to announcing his new Cabinet ministers, a source close to the president said.

"Cabinet *selection* is close to being finalized. Talks with *political* parties are done. ...minister candidates' achievements, however, have been taken into consideration by SBY," anonymous source told Antara news agency on Saturday.

According to this source, SBY has talked with a number of political parties, including the Golkar Party, the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) and the Great Indonesia Movement Party (Gerindra).

Some 45 names have been included in the list of potential candidates to be ministers in the new Cabinet.

Yudhoyono has said he will interview the candidates after Oct. 1.

Presidential spokesman Andi Mallarangeng earlier said that the next Cabinet would possibly include figures from parties outside the current coalition with SBY's Democratic Party, which already includes the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS), the National Mandate Party (PAN), the United Development Party (PPP) and the National Awakening Party (PKB).

Executive members of the parties however, denied reports that President Yudhoyono had invited them to discuss the next cabinet lineup.

"There is no discussion on the cabinet with Yudhoyono. It would likely take place after Idul Fitri," PAN secretary general Zulkifli Hassan told The Jakarta Post.

The Great Indonesian Movement Party (Gerindra) secretary-general, Fadli Zon said that his party had also yet to receive any invitation from Yudhoyono regarding talks on the cabinet. .

"We are still waiting to see *on whether a party nominee might join* with Yudhoyono's cabinet," he said.

The source said that Gerindra's chief patron Prabowo Subianto was on the list as one of potential candidate to fill a ministerial post.

Defeated vice presidential candidate Prabowo has congratulated Yudhoyono for his re-election in the July presidential election.

The Golkar party said that it would wait for its national congress to determine whether party leaders might accept any offer to join with the next Cabinet.

The Golkar's congress in October will elect a new chairman to replace Vice President Jusuf Kalla.
