JAKARTA: Actress and singer Julia Perez opposes the marriage bill, which would order a foreign man to put down a US$50,000 deposit to wed an Indonesian woman.  

Julia, who is divorced from Spaniard Damien Perez, and is currently seeing an Argentinean, Gaston Castano, said the government should rethink the plan. She said the bill would torture Indonesian women who were having a relationship with a foreign man.  

“Oh, please don’t, Pak. If it goes ahead, I will cry. Don’t torture our kind, the bule lovers. If the bill is passed, a lot will simply have to be unregistered marriages,” Jupe said as quoted by vivanews.com. Bule is a slang for Caucasians.  

Castano echoed Julia. He said he could not afford to pay half a billion rupiah to marry Julia. “I would go broke,” he said.  

Julia said she would not undergo unregistered marriage as, in most cases, the women became victims.  
Julia has taken part in 13 movies. Her appearance in Cinta Setaman (Love Potpourri) did win her praise, but most people remember her in horror films such as Beranak Dalam Kubur (Giving birth six
