R

eady to embark on an adventure of a lifetime? Singapore is celebrating the joy of getting older with a couple of celebrations taking place at the Suntec Convention Centre on the weekend of April 3 and 4, 2010.

First, the 50plus Expo is back with new and interesting products, special deals and promotions, tons of fun shopping experience, performances and great giveaways for the mature women and gentlemen visitors.

The mega-exhibition is themed "Live, Learn & Play" and comprises four thematic zones: Celebrate, Energize, Inspire and Re-juvenate. Up for a mini golf challenge or a Nintendo Wii competition? Then check out the Energize Zone. Always curious about how to blog or edit your pictures on the computer? Then the Inspire Zone makes the ideal learning spot for all things tricky and digital.

At the Celebrate and Rejuvenate zones, meanwhile, cooking and gardening demos await with wine tasting and calligraphy sessions arranged in celebration of the fi ner things in life.

There are also great spa packages, beauty and fi tness promos (and free health screening!) to look forward to at the expo, along with special appearances by local celebrities and comedians.

More highlights include the Golden Orchid Beauty Pageant - where 45-plus ladies can fl aunt their ageless charm to walk away with attractive cash prizes - and the mass renewal of love where you can say "I do" all over again with other married couples whose love has stood the test of time.

Also happening at the same time (but on a different floor) at Suntec Centre is the Active Ageing Carnival 2010, organized as part of the national Active Ageing campaign that encourages seniors to embrace a new concept on what it means to grow older.

The carnival is perfect for seniors who feel bored or want to take a break from their daily routine. The event has exciting challenges ranging from physical activities - rock climbing, Zorb Ball rolling - to personality quizzes for mature individuals who'd like to know themselves better while discovering hidden talents and interests!
