AKARTA: The city administration is looking for ways to expedite the disbursement of School Operational Assistance (BOS) from the central government.
City Education Agency head Taufik Yudi Mulyanto said Thursday that the city administration is currently working on a draft gubernatorial decree to create a mechanism for BOS disbursement.
“In drafting the decree, the Education Agency is coordinating with the city’s legal bureau and the Regional Financial Management Agency,” Taufik said.
The city has yet to receive the package of annual BOS funds for the first quarter of the year. The central government has earmarked a total of Rp 552.7 million (US$62,455) for the fund for this year in Jakarta.
The city administration expects to have all funds for the first quarter disbursed by March.
Under the BOS plan, schools receive Rp 47,900 per eligible student per month, in addition to Education Operational Assistance (BOP) of Rp 110,000 per student per month. Funds are earmarked to help finance school activities and for school supplies and books. — JP
