ANGKAL PINANG: The National Nuclear Energy Agency (Batan) granted scholarships to 18 Bangka-Belitung students to study nuclear technology.
Batan Education and Training Center head Hendriyanto said Friday that very few students were currently interested in studying nuclear technology. The scholarship therefore intended to encourage the number of students studying basic nuclear knowledge.
The chosen students would study at four universities: one at the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), two at the University of Indonesia, four at the Gadjah Mada University and the rest at the School of Nuclear Technology.
“The agency’s internal departments and the four universities had done the selection of students,” Hendriyanto said as quoted by kompas.com.
From the early 140 participants, both agency and universities had selected 30 finalists before they were eventually reduced to 18.
