span class="inline inline-left">JP/Indah SetiawatiModel-turned-actress Donna Harun, 43, will appear in the upcoming children’s musical film Langit Biru (Blue Sky) with her son, Jeje Soekarno. The two will play a mother and son in the film, which is scheduled to begin filming in November this year.

I am a true homebody. I spend my leisure time in my bedroom, reading novels or playing with my iPad. Sometimes I just lay on my bed, resting.

I like reading Indonesian literature. Remy Silado is one of my favorite local authors. I also like the books of Brazilian author Paulo Coelho and American romantic novelist Danielle Steel.

When I am reading a good book, I can stay in my bedroom for hours. Sometimes, when I have nothing to do for two days, I will just stay in my room during those two days.

My husband, Romy Soekarno, and my elder son, Ricky Harun, are both DJs who go out to work at night. They understand that I like sleeping more than watching their performances. In the past, I was willing to go clubbing to watch them. But now, I feel no inclination to go out late at night anymore.

I spent more time at home in the last 10 years, because I have less going on in my life. In my busy days as a model, I often traveled to other cities or abroad. Books have become my best company, both in my busy and quiet days

When I would go abroad for a show, sometimes for 10 days, for example, we could only work for five days and have personal time for the remaining five days. Instead of going clubbing, I usually just stayed in my room or went to a park to read.

I also shopped when I was abroad, but I would only take a day and look for certain things. If I didn’t find something I was looking for, I would just accept it and would not take another day just to shop for it.

To tell you the truth, beauty treatment is so not me. Going to a beauty salon is a very boring thing to do. I do not like it at all, but I have to do it. My beauty treatments only consist of creambaths, manicures, pedicures and hair toning. I usually take a number of treatments in one day, so the next visit to the beauty salon will be in the next three months, not the following month.

I apply the same strategy for shopping. This is something I do in my leisure time. I usually only schedule one day of shopping, grabbing all the things I need, such as 10 to 20 clothing items for the next three to five months and I do not go shopping until then.

When our family has time for a vacation, we go together, but this is not something obligatory. This year, we couldn’t have a vacation because Jeje had a tight film-shooting schedule.

I don’t want to just go on vacation with my husband while my sons are working. I offered Jeje two options for his school holiday. I asked whether he wanted to join the shooting or take a vacation, and he chose the first. Maybe he considers acting in a film as an entertaining activity.

My favorite vacation destination is Europe – especially France. I like the ambience of the country. It’s classy and romantic. London makes me feels too formal. America forces me to look rich. The Netherlands makes me feel old. It’s bizarre, but France, to my delight, makes me feel beautiful.
