JAKARTA: Customers of Bank Central Asia (BCA) will be able to withdraw and transfer money at post offices nationwide soon
AKARTA: Customers of Bank Central Asia (BCA) will be able to withdraw and transfer money at post offices nationwide soon. This follows the signing on Tuesday of a Memorandum of Understanding and cooperation agreement on financial-transaction services between the bank and state postal firm PT Pos Indonesia.
“We decided to cooperate with PT Pos Indonesia to provide banking services particularly to people living in remote areas not yet covered by BCA,” BCA president director Jahja Setiaatmadja said after the signing ceremony.
He stated that PT Pos Indonesia currently had almost 4,000 branches nationwide while BCA lagged behind with around 900 branches. BCA customers would be able to conduct financial transactions at post offices, such as EDC payments, BCA debit and cash withdrawals, Flazz and money transfers starting in January, Jahja said.
PT Pos Indonesia president director I Ketut Mardjana said the firm currently covered all regencies and municipalities, all districts as well as 42 percent of villages and sub-districts. As many as 3,700 post offices are already online. He said that BCA was the third bank to work with Pos after BNI and Bank Mandiri.
