AKARTA: The Jakarta administration will build 16 new parks in East Jakarta, offering residents green-space for recreation, according to a local official.
The project would begin with the construction of four new parks, each of around 300 square meters, near the East Flood Canal, East Jakarta development and environment assistant Andriansyah said. “The parks will be designed by the Public Parks and Cemetery Agency and will be developed by private parties.”
Six companies have expressed interest in the project, he added.
East Jakarta’s Public Parks and Cemetery Agency green-line unit chief Linda Mulyani said that construction on four parks near South Cipinang Besar and Pondok Kopi would begin this year. “Basically, they will be placed near densely populated areas,” she said as quoted by beritajakarta.com.
