Reza Rahadian : All about making movies

A

ctor Reza Rahardian has what it takes to get serious in the film industry -- passion, determination and luck.

The 25-year-old actor will sit in the director’s chair in an upcoming feature film later this year.

Reza, who has had roles in dramas like 3 Hati, 2 Dunia, 1 Cinta (3 Hearts, 2 Worlds, One Love) and controversial movie ? (The Question Mark), made a short thriller titled Sebelah (A Side) last year.

“I’ll direct one film of an omnibus. We’ve got the producer and will start the preparations later this year. However, I cannot tell you much about it now.

My latest film, Broken Heart, hit the cinema on May 16. It’s a film that made me lose 10 kilograms because I played a character who suffered from anorexia. I had to lose that amount of weight in three weeks, so I did not eat carbohydrates. This change of diet was under the supervision of a medical doctor.

It’s one of my favorite roles. I was very interested in that role and decided to take the part.

In my leisure time, I always watch movies. That is for sure. I watch both foreign and local films. I actually prefer to watch them in the cinema, but if I miss a target film, then I will look for the DVD.

I don’t go to the gym. Sometimes I play sport, but just occasionally. Shame on me.

I love reading books about acting, film histories and the like. Film is my passion and interest, so I think I would read practically anything related to it.

So, if I don’t hang out with my friends and just stay at home, I will watch movies, read or browse something in the Internet.”
