AKARTA: Puan Maharani, the daughter of Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) chairwoman Megawati Soekarnoputri, said that she would be ready if the party decided that she should run for president in the 2014 election.
“I can’t say if I am not ready. As a party member, I have to be ready to follow what the party decides,” Puan said as quoted by tribunnews.com.
Puan, however, said that so far the party had not officially made any statement regarding the 2014 presidential election.
She added that the party was now concentrating on preparing for the 2014 legislative election.
Puan, who is now leader of the PDI-P faction at the House of Representatives, recently said that her party would name its presidential candidate after the 2014 legislative election.
The PDI-P, however, will likely give the authority to name a presidential candidate to Megawati Soekarnoputri.
