NDONESIA: The Singapore Consulate in Pekanbaru, Riau, will stop operations on Tuesday, the Singaporean Foreign Affairs Ministry said in a statement on Monday evening.

The consulate in Pekanbaru stopped processing visa applications and other consular matters on Monday. The closure is part of the ministry’s effort to streamline its consular services with the opening of the Singapore Consulate in Batam, Riau Islands, in 2009.

The services and responsibilities of the consulate in Pekanbaru will be taken over by the consulate in Batam, located at the 8th Floor, Sumatra Convention center, Jl. Engku Putri Kav. 01, Batam Center, Batam. The consulate can be reached at 62-778-470070 and 62-778-470071 fax 62-778-470076.
