oordinating Political, Legal and Security Affairs Minister Djoko Suyanto condemned on Monday a bomb explosion at Ekayana Buddhist Vihara in West Jakarta on Sunday evening as it damaged the sanctity of Ramadhan.

At least three people were injured in the blast, which also damaged parts of the temple. The temple was established in 1995 to accommodate Buddhist students studying at nearby universities.

"Security officers have been ordered to search for and capture whoever is behind the explosion at the Ekayana Vihara," Djoko said in a written message in Jakarta on Monday as quoted by Antara.

Djoko said communities should remain aware of activities in their surroundings and report anything suspicious.

"Terrorists always depend on security apparatuses being neglectful. In turn the apparatuses will deal with it seriously," he said.

National Police detectives chief Lt. Gen. Sutarman confirmed that there had been an explosion, saying the bombs were apparently placed outside the building. Police are investigating the incident and continue to sweep the area, he said.

Angered over sectarian violence between Buddhists and Muslims in Myanmar, militants in Indonesia have threatened to attack Buddhist temples in the country.

In May, two men with low explosives in a backpack were arrested. It is believed they had planned to bomb the Myanmar Embassy in Jakarta.
