n unusual incident early on Saturday morning at the house of pharmaceutical businessman Adiguna Sutowo saw a young woman deliberately crash her Mercedes-Benz into three luxurious cars parked in front of the house.

The woman reportedly took over her car from her driver, identified only as D, and hit the gate of Adiguna'€™s house, located on Jl. Pulomas Barat in Pulogadung, East Jakarta.

East Jakarta Police spokesperson Comr. Sri Bhayangkari said on Sunday the police were investigating the case and were trying to establish what motives were behind the incident that took place at 2 a.m.

'€œWe'€™re questioning three witnesses and we'€™re still investigating who the woman is and what her relationship with Adiguna'€™s family is,'€ she informed The Jakarta Post.

Sri explained that Adiguna'€™s wife, Vika Dewayani, reported the incident right after it occurred. She said Vika'€™s report led the police to question three witnesses, comprising housemaid Siti Aisha and two security guards '€” Atno and Natal.

'€œWe can'€™t inform you of the results of the questioning yet, but according to their testimonies and based on our database, the car the woman drove was a car owned by someone named Florence,'€ she said

Adiguna is the youngest child of Ibnu Sutowo, former president director of national oil company PT Pertamina in the 1970s and a three-star general. He is known more as a former national racer than a businessman. He is also the father-in-law of renowned actress Dian Sastrowardoyo.

In 2005, Adiguna was found guilty of shooting and killing Yohannes '€œRudy'€ Berchmans Haerudy Natong, a student and waiter at the Fluid Bar in the Hilton hotel. He was sentenced to seven years in prison.

The sentence was lenient considering prosecutors sought life imprisonment. The reasons behind the decision were the family of the victim had already forgiven Adiguna, he was supportive during the trial process, he was a public figure and he never had any previous legal problems.

In 2007, the Supreme Court granted Adiguna'€™s appeal and reduced the sentence to four years.

Adiguna graduated from the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, the US, in 1981. After returning to Indonesia, he became the president director of PT Adiguna Mesin Tani, which distributed diesel engines nationwide.

In 1985, he set up PT Mugi Rekso Abadi with several partners, including Tommy Soeharto, son of Indonesia'€™s second president, Soeharto. The company owns franchises of the Hard Rock Cafe in Jakarta and Bali. It is the largest media group in the country and provides a wide range of magazines and broadcasters, such as FHM, Cosmopolitan, Men'€™s Fitness, Trax FM Jakarta radio and Hard Rock FM Jakarta radio.

In the pharmaceutical industry, Adiguna owns the manufacturer PT Sunthi Sepuri.

In 1977, while he was still at high school, Adiguna married Indri, with whom he had two children '€” their eldest son Adri died in a traffic incident on Jl. Sudirman.

In 1990, Adiguna married his second wife Vika, with whom he had two children. (koi)
