AM Air, a subsidiary of privately owned domestic carrier PT Sriwijaya Air, is scheduled to launch its maiden flight in late November this year. Sriwijaya Air spokesman Agus Soedjono said over the weekend that the new airline would be operated as Sriwijaya's feeder airline and would serve short-haul regional routes.

'At this moment, preparations are being finalized. If there are no significant problems, the maiden flight will occur at the end of November,' he said, as reported by kompas.com.

He added that on its first flight the company would serve the Jakarta - Pangkal Pinang route.

NAM Air received its flight permit (SIUAU) from the Transportation Ministry in early October this year. The company must also obtain an air operator certificate (AOC) to be able to begin its flight services.

If it is approved, NAM Air will have an AOC 121, given to every carrier with the capacity of 30 seats and more.

Commercial director of PT Sriwijaya Air Toto Nursatyo said that in the future NAM Air would serve tourist destinations like Labuan Bajo, Ende, Larantuka and Rote in East Nusa Tenggara.
