Misreading the wind direction cost Titik Kusumawardani dearly as she let gold slip through her fingers at the archery field in Naypyitaw on Monday.

'I had no problem with my shot, only that I wrongly judged the wind direction,' Titik, who competed in the women's 70-meter recurve, said according to Antara.

During the final match, Titik was ahead in the first two shots, scoring a perfect 10 points in each occasion. Her opponent Chan Jing Ru closely trailed with 10 points in the first, and nine points in the second shot.

In the final shot, Jing Ru managed to strike 10 while Titik faltered with only seven points.

Despite only winning silver, Titik expressed her excitement with her first medal in her second participation in the biennial sporting showcase.

'This is my first medal. I did not get a medal in the Jakarta SEA Games,' she said.

She hoped that the silver could turn to gold when she returned to the field to compete in the team event, pairing with Ika Yuliana Rochmawati on Tuesday.

Ika grabbed bronze on Monday, after defeating Loc Thi Dao of
Vietnam.

In the compound event, the Indonesian team also failed to win gold after Dellie Threesyadinda lost to Aung Ngeain of Myanmar 138-130 in the final.

The bronze went to Cham Nong Saritha of Malaysia with a 144-139 win over teammate Fatin Nurfatehah Mat Salleh. ' JP
