he Deposit Insurance Corporation (LPS) has agreed to carry out a capital injection into Bank Mutiara to meet a 2012 Bank Indonesia decree (PBI) on minimum capital requirements for general banks.
LPS secretary Samsu Adi Nugroho said in a statement in Jakarta on Friday that Bank Mutiara's capital injection was scheduled to be completed on Dec.23 at the latest.
According to the PBI, all banks operating in Indonesia should fulfill Internal Capital Adequacy Assessment Process (ICAAP) requirements, the percentages of which vary from one bank to another.
"Bank Mutiara must meet the ICAAP with a capital adequacy ratio [CAR] of at least 14 percent," said Samsu as quoted by Antara news agency. (ebf)
