The BCA Indonesia Open Metlife BWF World Superseries Premier 2014 badminton tournament welcomed its participants with a gala dinner, on June 16 at the Hotel Sultan.

The dinner provided an opportunity for participants from 28 countries to get to know each other just before the competition started, on June 17. Online tickets are available at www.blibli.com and information on the match, live score and live streaming can be seen at www.djarumbadminton.com.

Many of those involved in the tournament, sponsored by BCA and supported by Djarum Foundation, also took turns to convey their appreciation during the dinner.

BCA president director Jahja Setiaatmadja said that the bank was proud to be able to participate as a sponsor of the major tournament.

“I’m looking forward to seeing an exciting tournament in the next six days,” he told participants at the dinner.

Jahja expressed his hope that the tournament, aside from being a competition event, would strengthen ties among the players.  

“We support badminton and good, fair sports. We wish all the participants every success and hope that they can maintain a great level of energy during the tournament,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI) secretary– general Anton Subowo thanked all the players for their participation in the tournament, and event sponsor BCA.

Youth and Sports Minister Roy Suryo said he hoped BCA would continue its support for the badminton world in the years to come.

“Hopefully, Indonesia’s badminton will continue to advance as one of Indonesia’s flagship sports alongside soccer,” he said.

Aside from being the host of the tournament, he said he was also crossing his fingers that Indonesia would triumph at this year’s competition.
