'Overseas job agencies without operation permits will be closed down to help minimize extortion at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport and during migrant workers' journeys to their hometowns,' West Jakarta labor and transmigration agency head Suhari said on Friday as quoted by tempo.co.
He said that there were hundreds of agencies providing overseas work in the city but only 54 had secured permits from the Manpower and Transmigration Ministry.
Suhari also called on prospective migrant workers and those wishing to return home to deal only with legitimate agencies.
