AKARTA: Indonesian player Ferdinand Sinaga celebrated his 26th birthday on Thursday by scoring two goals against the Maldives in Group E of the men's soccer competition at the Asian Games in Incheon, South Korea.
'Our supporters in Incheon brought a birthday cake, so we celebrated [Ferdinand's birthday] with them,' national team manager Chandra Sholehan said as quoted by tempo.co on Friday.
Chandra added that they threw another party for Ferdinand the next day with the squad. However, they had to cut it short due to their training schedule.
Ferdinand has performed impressively in the opening two games of the competition, with the Persib Bandung player scoring six goals.
He scored four in the 7-0 rout of Timor Leste on Monday and then a further two against Maldives on Thursday in a match that ended in a 4-0 win for Indonesia.
With two wins from two, the Indonesian team has already secured its place in the round of 16, but must first face Thailand in its last Group E match on Monday.
