Chinese businessmen urge establishment of China desk in Indonesia

C

hinese businessmen have underlined the importance of the establishment of a China desk at the Indonesian Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) to provide guidance and facilitate their investments in Indonesia.

They made the remarks at a China-Indonesia Investment and Trade seminar held at the Indonesian Embassy in Beijing on Thursday. The seminar, aimed at promoting investment and trade opportunities in Indonesia, was attended by 30 Chinese businessmen from various sectors, including energy, mining, automotive, construction and trade.

Those attending the seminar included several businesses that have invested in Indonesia like automotive company Chongqing Sokon and mining company Jilin Mineral, the embassy said in a statement made available to The Jakarta Post on Friday.

The businessmen'€™s statement was a response to Indonesia's call for them not to hesitate to invest in Indonesia as the government has provided various facilities to speed up foreign investment. Among the facilities are the planned launch of a one-stop licensing service at the BKPM and registration for licensing permits online.

In an interactive discussion at the seminar the Chinese businessmen also asked the Indonesian government to consider extending working licenses for foreign workers to help their investment activities in Indonesia.

Most of them expressed their enthusiasm about doing business in Indonesia, especially in favored sectors such as infrastructure, energy and mining. (hhr)
