ndonesian mixed doubles shuttlers Tontowi "Owi" Ahmad and Liliyana "Butet" Natsir have secured their spot in the quarterfinals of the Singapore Open Super Series 2015 tournament after defeating Hong Kong duo Lee Chun Hei Reginald/Chau Hoi Wah.
'In the first game, we won easily. But in the second game, they started to develop the way they played,' said Butet on Thursday, Antara news agency quoting a statement from the Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI).
Owi and Butet defeated the Hong Kong pair 21-12 and 21-19 in 27 minutes at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.
They will face host mixed doubles Danny Bawa Chrisnanta and Yu Yan Vanessa Neo.
'We have faced them several times. If we can focus, we are sure to win against them,' said Butet.
The Indonesians have the better record against the Singaporeans with four consecutive victories. The last victory occurred at the All England 2015 championship, when Owi and Butet won 21-12, 17-21, 21-12.
On April 4, Owi and Butet failed to reach the final stage of the Malaysian Open after losing to Chinese top seeds Zhang Nan and Zhao Yunlei. (fsu/nvn)(+++)
