n preparation for the 2017 SEA Games in Malaysia and the 2018 Asian Games in Indonesia, the Indonesian Karate-Do Association (Forki) is holding a six-day training event for local coaches and is hiring Tareq Abdesselem for the event.
The training is being held in Jakarta from June 2 to 7.
'The aim of these activities is to improve the quality of trainees' human resources,' said Zulkarnaen Purba, a Forki official in charge of development.
'With the improvement, opportunities for athletes will continue to open up,' he added.
Twenty-eight-year-old Abdesselem, a four-time silver medalist in the World Karate Federation, is hailed for his success in improving the performance of Thailand's karate athletes.
'If we want to achieve more, we have to make changes and one of those changes is the coach,' Forki secretary-general Lumban Sianipar said. 'They have to be able to develop good athletes.'
With regard to the 2015 WKF Cadet and Junior World Championships, Zulkarnaen is hopeful that Indonesia will have a bigger role to play and achieve great things on the world stage.
