The Depok City Administration is to increase the number of community health centers (Puskesmas) open 24 hours a day.
The head of Depok health office's basic health service section, Zakiah, said there would be three new 24-hour Puskesmas by 2016, located in Bojong Sari, Limo and Kedaung in Sawangan district.
The three new public health centers will raise the number of 24-hour Puskesmas in the city to nine. The other six are located in Pancoran Mas, Sukmajaya, Cimanggis, Beji, Cinere and Cipayung, according to Antara news agency.
Preparations were being made, Zakiah said, to develop the facilities of the centers in question, especially their human resource capabilities and other supporting infrastructure.
Twenty-four-hour Puskesmas are served by medical personnel, including doctors and nurses, on standby to provide emergency medical treatment at night-time. (hhr)(+++)
