City-owned bus operator PT Transportasi Jakarta (Transjakarta) launched 20 buses on Monday procured through the Government Procurement of Goods and Services Agency (LKPP) e-catalogue.

The 20 buses were of the Swedish-made Scania variety. Transjakarta president director Steve Kosasih said that the 20 buses were among the total 51 buses the firm procured this year.

"These are the first buses we procured through the e-catalogue. The previous buses were procured through a bidding process," Kosasih said during a launch at the National Monument (Monas) in Central Jakarta.

During the same occasion, Transjakarta launched a 24-hour hotline for complaints and reports. Kosasih said that residents could call (021)1500102.

Further, Governor Basuki "Ahok" Tjahaja Purnama expressed his satisfaction with the procurement, as it was the first time that the city purchased buses through the e-catalogue.

"Bidding is a long process, and is prone to corruption. I'm very happy that we finally purchased high quality buses through the e-catalogue," he said. (hhr)
