resident Joko "Jokowi" Widodo has sent the names of 33 ambassador candidates to the House of Representatives (DPR) Commission I overseeing defense and foreign affairs.
"From the general profiles that we have received, I have a positive impression. I think they are all competent and will be able to do their duties," said member of DPR Commission I Charles Honoris as quoted by kompas.com on Wednesday.
The house is set to hold a fit and proper test as Jokowi had expressed his hope that the elected ambassadors should have foreign diplomacy skills as well as good marketing skills.
"We will evaluate [the candidates] further during the fit and proper test. But basically I'm quite optimistic they will meet the President's expectations," said Charles. (kes)
