ommy Sugiarto advanced to the final of the Denmark Open Super Series badminton championship after defeating Chou Tien Chen of Chinese Taipei 21-8, 22-20 on Saturday in Odense, Denmark.

The Indonesian shuttler was scheduled to face top seed Chen Long in the final on Sunday, with the Chinese coming from behind to stop home player Viktor Axelsen 15-21, 21-17, 21-16.

Against the world'€™s number one, Tommy has won only once in their eight meetings.

'€œChen Long is absolutely the favorite, but I will try to wrest my chance to win the match,'€ Tommy said according to a release from the Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI).

Tontowi Ahmad/Liliyana Natsir were the only other Indonesian representatives in the final, facing Ko Sung-hyun/Kim Ha-na of South Korea in the mixed doubles title contest.

Tontowi/Liliyana edged out Liu Cheng/Bao Yixin of China 21-18, 21-16 in the semifinals.

The other three final matches pitted Li Xuerui (China) against PV Sindhu (India) in the women'€™s singles; Jung Kyung-eun/Shin Seung-chan (South Korea) against Tian Qing/Zhao Yunlei (China) in the women'€™s doubles; and Lee Yong-dae/Yoo Yeon Seong (South Korea) against Liu Cheng/Lu Kai in the men'€™s doubles.
