The Asian Television Awards (ATA) ceremony was held for the 20th time on the evenings of Dec. 2 and Dec. 3, and for the first time at the Suntec Singapore Convention and Exhibition Centre.

The event brought together more than 250 television industry players, including actors and entertainers, to celebrate Asia's brightest television professionals, content providers and broadcasters.

ATA lauded Asian TV's best talent across 40 categories, including Best Actor and Best Actress, Best Lifestyle program and Best Entertainment. The Award ceremony featured musical entertainment from Indonesian-born Anggun Cipta Sasmi, K-pop girl group Secret and Swedish boy band JTR.

Seven Indonesian television programs had been nominated for this year'€™s ATA.

They included Tetangga Masa Gitu? by NET for the Best Comedy Program category, 'Konser Raya 20th' by Indonsiar and NET 2.0 Presents Indonesian Choice Awards 2015 by NET for Best Entertainment (One-Off/Annual), Berpacu Dalam Melodi by NET for Best Game or Quiz, Entong: Perang Enggrang by MNCTV for Best 3D Animation and Indonesia Bagus: Joki Sumbawa by NET for the Best Cinematography category.

When interviewed by thejakartapost.com, Anggun said it was her first performance at the Asian Television Awards, adding that she was very excited to perform at the prestigious event. On the awarding night, Anggun sang a song titled 'Savior', which is the main soundtrack of the movie Transporter II.

Anggun is currently promoting her French-language album Toujours un ailleurs (Always an elsewhere) in France, Belgium and Switzerland. She is also in the process of recording the English version, which will be released worldwide in 2016.

'€œI think we, Asian people, know how to do great TV programs. Look at Asia's Got Talent; the show is able to be the first pan-regional version of the successful TV show franchise,'€ said Anggun when asked about her opinion on Asia's TV scene.

Even though only seven Indonesian TV productions made their way onto the nomination list, Anggun said she was optimistic and thought that seven nominations was already an achievement, though she agreed it was not that impressive for a country as vast and powerful as Indonesia.

'€œFor me, Indonesian people are super creative. Quality should be the keyword for Indonesian TV to be able to export its programs and television concepts,'€ Anggun remarked. Anggun will be in Jakarta at the end of December for a TV special and to celebrate New Year. (bbn)
