ndonesian Democratic Party of Struggle central executive board (DPP PDI-P) leader Djarot Saiful Hidayat has called for the public to not disturb Surabaya mayor Tri Rismaharini from her work with the Jakarta election issue.
“Let her focus on her work in Surabaya. I have seen rejection [of the plan] from Surabaya residents who don’t want Risma to leave her position for the Jakarta election. The party will soon decide on its gubernatorial candidate, so it’s better for to not disturb Risma,” he said at Jakarta City Hall on Thursday.
PDI-P chairwoman Megawati Soekarnoputri has appointed Risma as the party’s national campaign chief. This role will require Risma to go to some regions to campaign for party candidates.
However, Risma still has a chance to be appointed as a Jakarta gubernatorial candidate as Megawati has yet to make a decision on the matter, Djarot said. (ags)
