A family is safe after Jakarta Police rescued them while being held hostage in their home in Pondok Indah, South Jakarta.
The incident began as a robbery and developed into a hostage situation. Two suspects, who were reported to have surrendered to police,were escorted out of the house at 2:34 p.m. and taken to the Jakarta Police headquarters for further questioning, KompasTV reported.
Five people were taken hostage, a husband and wife and their two children, as well as a domestic worker, who managed to escape at 5:30 a.m. on Saturday and sought the help of neighbors.
The television station reported that the police had taken the victims to the hospital for health checks before questioning them about the incident. (bbn)
