he husband of Wayan Mirna Salihin, Arief Sumarko, accused Amir Papalia, a journalist of the Bharindo tabloid, of allegedly bribing a café barista one day before Mirna's murder on Jan. 6.
Previously, Amir said he saw a man, whose face was similar to Arief's, hand a package in a plastic bag to Rangga Dwi Saputro, a barista of Olivier, one day before Mirna died at the café after drinking iced coffee with Jessica Kumala Wongso and another friend.
Jessica was found guilty and was sentenced to 20 years in prison for murdering Mirna.
“I had reported [Amir] a day before the verdict was read. Police said they would soon follow up our report,” Arief told journalists on Thursday as reported by tribunnews.com.
Meanwhile Adhitya A. Nasution, Arief’s lawyer, said the case was related to a statement made by Amir, who accused Arief of handing over a certain amount of money to Rangga to kill Mirna.
“It is slander to my client. Because of [Amir’s] statement, the media was tendentious and accused my client of cooperating with Rangga to kill my client,” said Adhitya.
Amir’s testimony was revealed at a court hearing on Oct. 20, but there was no a follow-up of the issue. (bbn)
