Agus promises more absorption wells to mitigate flooding
Jakarta governor candidate Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono said during a campaign stop in Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta, on Tuesday, he would increase the number of absorption wells in flood prone areas to mitigate the disaster risk.

akarta governor candidate Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono said during a campaign stop in Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta, Tuesday, he would increase the number of absorption wells in flood prone areas to mitigate the disaster risk.
“Flooding is a complicated problem, but for me the solution is to make absorption wells,” he said on Jl. Kebon Bawang.
Agus said Jakarta’s water management should shift from horizontal drainage to vertical absorption.
He said if he was elected governor he would empower the communities to make the wells.
“Absorption wells are not only the responsibility of the administration but also of the people,” he said as quoted by Antara news agency.
Residents were enthusiastic to meet him and they commented on his looks.
Agus is running for the 2017 election with former Central Jakarta mayor Sylviana Murni as his running mate. (evi)
