he Muaro Jambi regency elections supervisory committee (Panwaslu) has issued a letter to the local General Elections Commission (KPU) instructing it to dismiss two members of the Polling Station Working Committee (KPPS) for allegedly supporting a candidate pair.
"We have officially issued the dismissal letter for these two officers,” said Panwaslu Muaro Jambi regency head Hamdi on Monday.
One of the KPPS members, only identified by the initial E, is from Sungai Gelam district, while the other, only identified by the initials HT, is from Jaluko district, Hamdi went on.

The decision came following an investigation into the respective officials. During the investigation, it was found that both KPPS members had recently held meetings with one candidate pair ahead of the simultaneous regional elections on Feb. 15.
Hamdi said the KPPS members were proven to have violated the code of ethics, adding that as KPPS members, E and HT should have been neutral. Hamdi, however, did not disclose which candidate pair had been in contact with E and HT.
Four candidate pairs are running in this year’s Muaro Jambi regent election, namely incumbent Abun Yani-Suharyanto, Agustian Mahir-Suswiyanto, Masnah-Bambang Bayu Suseno and Ivan Wirata-Dodi Sularso. (trw)
