he management of Istiqlal Mosque told thousands of protesters gathered at the mosque on Friday to maintain peace during the rally and avoid any kind of provocation.
In a statement signed by the Istiqlal management body head Muhammad Muzamil Basyuni that was read just before the rally, the mosque said that it was important not to engage in any kind of violent behavior as it could tarnish the image of Muslims.
"We welcome you this Friday to this mosque, but please remember Muslims in Indonesia must be seen by the world as people with good behavior," the statement said.
