urrent national leaders and future Jakarta leaders choose to wear sarongs to adorn their appearances on the first day of Idul Fitri.
Welcoming guests at the State Palace, President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo and Vice President Jusuf Kalla were both wearing a suit and a sarong on the special day.
Jokowi wore a brown sarong, while Kalla wore a purple one.
At 10:10 a.m., Jakarta governor-elect Anies Rasyid Baswedan and vice governor-elect Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno arrived to convey their Idul Fitri wishes to the President and Vice President.
Both were also wearing sarongs. Anies choose a brown sarong, while Sandiaga settled on a black one.
For the top of their outfits, Anies and Sandiaga opted to wear sadariah, locally known as “baju koko.”
"I wear sarong and kopiah every year for Idul Fitri. This is my choice because I want to preserve the traditions of Indonesia," Anies told The Jakarta Post. (tas)
