ix Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) students sustained injuries after the rock covering on a pillar at the campus’ Center for Art, Design and Language building crumbled on Saturday.

ITB's deputy rector for administration, Miming Miharja, said the incident occurred after the graduation ceremony for 2016/2017 academic year students at the Sasana Budaya Ganesha hall.

Miming apologized to the injured students and their parents on behalf of ITB, saying the institute would cover the medical expenses of the injured, most of whom suffered head injuries.

Miming said ITB would thoroughly investigate the incident.

The pillar has been cordoned off to prevent more injuries.

Graduation ceremonies were held on Friday and Saturday for 1,244 students. (dmr)
