ity-owned bus operator PT Transjakarta plans to operate two new routes to Betawi cultural neighborhood Setu Babakan in Jagakarsa, South Jakarta, on July 29 and July 30 to assist citizens celebrating the Lebaran Betawi festival at the site.
Transjakarta president director Budi Kaliwono said on Friday that Transjakarta buses would serve the post-Idul Fitri festival’s visitors at the bus stops of Pancasila University and Ragunan, both in South Jakarta. “People wanting to visit the festival in Setu Babakan can use our facilities for free,” Budi said.
Before the renovation of Setu Babakan, which cost the city administration up to Rp 300 million (US$22,500), a similar festival was usually held at Lapangan Banteng Park in Central Jakarta.
Betawi arts like tanjidor (traditional music), marawis (traditional percussion ensemble) and martial art pencak silat are among the performances that will enliven the festival.
