he Jakarta Council is set to discuss the zero percent down-payment housing program -- a key campaign promise of Governor Anies Baswedan -- next week, with the budget proposed at Rp 800 billion (US$59 million), a councillor said on Thursday.
The council’s deputy speaker, M. Taufik, said the program was included in the 2018 budget priorities (KUA-PPAS), wartakota.tribunnews.com reported.
“We will discuss the scheme next week,” he said, adding that several property developers approached the council to offer affordable housing concepts.(cal)
Taufik, the former deputy head of Anies' campaign team, said the program would likely be implemented in Rorotan, East Jakarta, as the land was free from disputes and owned by one of the developers, he said.
“Developers dare to sell the house at Rp 300 million per unit. The price is still affordable and covered by the zero percent down-payment program,” he said.
