View all search resultstate-owned construction company PT Waskita Karya is investigating the collapse of a retaining wall at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, which killed one person in a passing car on Monday.
“We want to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the incident and assure safety [in the area] in coordination with the relevant institutions,” said Waskita corporate secretary Shastia Hadiarti in Jakarta on Tuesday, as reported by kompas.com.
The incident occurred at 6:10 p.m. on Monday on a road running just below the railway overpass. Waskita is the developer of the airport railway, which entered official operation in January.
Airpor railway operator PT Railink, a subsidiary of state-owned railway operator PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI), had to stop airport train operations after the incident.
A car driven by an employee of the Garuda Maintenance Facility (GMF) Aeroasia was passing the road when the wall collapsed. The car was hit by concrete and buried by soil that slid down onto the road, which was opened in January.
Shastia declined to comment on the incident, saying the management of the company had not yet received a comprehensive report on it. (bbn)
