abuhanbatu Police deputy chief Comr. Andi Chandra was found dead in Berombang River, Labuhanbatu regency, North Sumatra, on Sunday.

Andi had been one of six people onboard a speedboat that sank on Saturday evening. They were on their way back from attending a wedding in Tangkahan Tanjung Sarang Elang village, Panai Hulu district.

“On our way home, at around 4:30 p.m., the speedboat crashed into a piece of drift wood in the river and sank,” said Labuhanbatu police chief Adj. Sr. Comr. Frido Situmorang, who had been on the same boat.

The other passengers survived the incident, he added.

A search and rescue team led by Frido found Andi’s body at around 10 a.m. on Sunday.

“He was still in his uniform when he was found. His body has been evacuated from the location,” said Sr. Comr. Rina Sari Ginting, North Sumatra Police spokesperson. (gis/evi)
