ive members of the police's antiterrorism squad Densus 88 who were killed during a prison riot at the National Police's Mobile Brigade headquarters (Mako Brimob) in Depok, West Java, on Tuesday evening, have been given posthumous promotions for their service.

The officers, identified by their new ranks as First Insp. Yudi Rospuji Siswato, Adj. Second Insp. Denny Setiadi, Brig. Fandy Setyo Nugroho, First Brig. Syukron Fadhli and First Brig. Wahyu Catur Pamungkas, have been promoted one rank higher than that held at the time of their deaths.

The bodies of the slain officers, along with that of one of the prisoners who was also killed during the incident, were taken to the National Police Hospital in Kramat Jati, East Jakarta, at noon on Wednesday.

After an autopsy was carried out by a Disaster and Victim Identification (DVI) team, each body was handed over to the respective families for burial.

Apart from the dead personnel, another Densus 88 officer, identified as Chief Brig. Iwan Sarjana is reportedly being held hostage in an ongoing standoff between the detainees, mostly terrorist suspects and convicts, and police at Mako Brimob. (swd)
