The body of a French tourist has been discovered in the waters of Gili Meno, North Lombok regency, West Nusa Tenggara, after he was reported missing on Tuesday evening.

The cause of death is as yet unknown.
The body of the 32-year-old man, identified as Jeremy Nouguet, was discovered at 10:30 a.m. local time, said Mataram Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) spokesperson I Gusti Lanang Wiswananda. He was reported missing on Tuesday evening and was last seen snorkeling in the sea in front of Mahamaya Hotel in Gili Meno.
“The victim was found dead by a joint search and rescue [SAR] team about 220 meters from [where he was snorkeling]. His body has been taken to Bhayangkara Hospital in Mataram,” Lanang said on Wednesday.
The SAR team, along with local police and military personnel, initiated the search after receiving a report on Tuesday evening from local resident Sulman that a French tourist had gone missing at sea.
Sulman filed the report after French national Marie Oloron Sainte Marron, 37, who was also visiting the area, asked for his help in locating Nouguet, who had apparently not returned since he went snorkeling at 4 p.m. (afr/swd)
