T

he Jakarta Transportation Agency has mapped 93 sites in the city to be used as potential parking lots for the 2018 Asian Games.

The agency's deputy head, Sigit Wijatmoko, said that 10 government buildings, 18 shopping malls, 49 offices, nine privately owned corporate buildings, one sports complex, four halls and two universities had been scouted for using their parking lots for the Games.

The facilities are located on Jl. Sudirman, Jl. Gatot Subroto, Jl. S. Parman, Jl. Asia Afrika and Jl. Gerbang Pemuda, as well as in the Sudirman Central Business District (SCBD) and the House of Representatives complex in Senayan, Central Jakarta.

Sigit said the buildings that had been selected included the Graha Jalapuspita, Jakarta Convention Center (JCC), Manggala Wanabakti, Balai Kartini, the Sports Pertamina complex, Atma Jaya University and Al-Azhar University.

“These buildings will be required to [install] official parking signs from INASGOC [Indonesia Asian Games 2018 Organizing Committee] and an information board, and update information on the available space online,” Sigit said on Tuesday as quoted by kompas.com.

The information board should display routes, maps and the bus and Games schedule, Sigit added. (cal)
