ational Counterterrorism Agency (BNPT) head Comr. Gen. Suhardi Alius is attending the UN High Level Conference of Heads of Counterterrorism Agencies of Member States in New York on Thursday and Friday.

Suhardi will present a speech on preventing violent extremism by engaging the youth and combating internet abuse by terrorists.

His speech’s key points include, among other issues, Indonesia’s role in tackling radicalization in Southeast Asia and the nation’s effort to combat the spread of violent ideologies online.

According to a release by the BNPT, this was the first conference organized by UN Secretary-General António Guterres to enhance intergovernmental cooperation in tackling terrorism. (gis/dmr)
