A suspect has been named in an assault case involving a teenager on the Jagorawi toll road in East Jakarta.
The man, identified as MA, reportedly admitted to hitting 14-year-old RA, one of the passengers of a car that suddenly stopped in front of his own on Wednesday.
“[MA has been named] a suspect,” Jakarta Police general crimes director Nico Afinta said as quoted by kompas.com on Friday.
Police denied MA was driving a military car during the incident. “We have identified [the car]. That is not a military registered plate. It is a general public plate number,” Jakarta road patrol unit head Adj. Sr. Comr. Slamet Widodo said.
Reza Achmad, RA’s brother, posted a video on social media showing his brother’s bloody nose as well as the alleged perpetrator’s face and license plate of the latter’s car, which shows a military sticker.
The incident occurred when Reza, with his mother and brother, were driving along the Jagorawi toll road from Bogor in West Java to Jakarta when the car in front of him made a sudden stop. Reza and the driver of a Chevrolet Captiva behind him hit their brakes to avoid a collision.
The Chevrolet’s driver, MA, blocked Reza’s car and ordered the latter to get out of the car. MA choked Reza, while scolding him for slamming his brakes. He also proceeded to beat Reza’s brother, RA. (stu/gis)
