Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) prosecutors  indicted businessman Johanes Budisutrisno Kotjo  on Thursday for alleged bribery in a graft case implicating two members of the Golkar Party.

Johanes is suspected of having given Golkar lawmaker Eni Maulani Saragih and former social affairs minister and Golkar executive Idrus Marham a total of Rp 4.75 billion (US$312,856) in return for their help in pushing for the signing of a power purchase agreement between Blackgold and state-owned electricity firm PLN in relation to the construction of a coal-powered power plant (PLTU) in Riau.

The indictment stated that Eni, who at the time was treasurer of Golkar's extraordinary national congress (Munaslub), reportedly asked Johanes for money for the purpose of funding the Munaslub.

"To convince the defendant [to give the money], Idrus Marham told the defendant, 'please help,'" KPK prosecutor Ronald F. Worotikan read out at the Central Jakarta District Court , adding that Johanes then reportedly gave Eni Rp 4 billion in two installments through his secretary.

The indictment further stated that Johanes allegedly gave Eni an additional Rp 750 million, which Eni reportedly asked for to fund her husband's campaign in Temanggung regency, Central Java.

Johanes and his legal team did not raise any objections to the indictment and refused to comment after the hearing.
