Over 500 buildings in West Jakarta were either built without a building permit (IMB) or used for a function that differs from what is stated on their IMBs.
est Jakarta Public Order Agency head Tamo Sijabat has revealed that more than 500 buildings in the municipality have violated their building permits (IMBs).
The buildings were either built without a building permit (IMB) or used for a function that differs from what is stated on their IMBs.
“There are a lot of buildings that violated their IMBs in West Jakarta – it could be more than 500. Meanwhile, we only have enough of a budget to demolish 50 [buildings]. So we will be a bit selective,” Tamo said on Tuesday, kompas.com reported.
The agency had demolished 30 buildings, he said, noting that it only demolished them after sending the owners warning letters in advance.
He said the agency cooperated with Cipta Karya Agency, the Spatial Planning and Land Agency and local district and subdistrict offices to demolish the buildings.
“There are owners that demolished their buildings themselves after we checked on them,” he said. (ami)
